We are over the moon to announce that we have finally sourced a local producer of FRESH SUSHI and are now selling it in the deli as of today!!

We have just two size packs, 4pce & 6pce, at £3.95 and £4.95 respectively. The sushi is mixed fish and vegetarian and comes complete in plastic containers including soy, ginger and wasabi sachets.

Above all it is FRESH, it is LOCAL and it is AUTHENTIC. Every pack is made by hand by a lady trained in a Japanese kitchen.

This stuff is so much better than anything you'll but in Waitrose, M&S or - dare i say it??!! - Sainsburys.

Come and get some and spread the word. FRESH SUSHI HAS ARRIVED!!!

We are thrilled to announce that we have exchanged contracts to take the lease on 53 Cheap Street, Sherborne which was formally Stokes the Greengrocers.

We know how much Stokes is missed in the town so we will intend to reopen next week (w/c 6th December) as a greengrocer.

This is an exciting new chapter for us and our business and hope you will all support us in this new venture. We are sure that, in light of the current debate raging in the town about the influx of national chain retailers, it will be a real filip that we are opening an independant greengrocers.

We will be completing the lease assignment this week and will be opening the doors again towards the end of next week. We have even approached the original staff, most of whom are delighted to be offered their old job back so you will see some familiar faces. We hope that once we reopen the shop will look and feel like it has never been closed!

Sabins launches a dedicated christmas hamper service. Soon you will be able to order your Christmas hamper online with the ability to deliver it anywhere in the country, next day, for a fixed amount. More details to follow shortly

Just a quick note to let you all know that we will, once again, be featuring at Hannah's annual wine tasting event she organises at the Castle.

Obviously we will be there with our delicious food along with circa 20 wine distributors all with samples for you to try.

Its a ticket only affair (as usual) which are available at Vineyards.

• South African Boerwurs sausages. (perfect for that world cup braai!)

• Juicy English strawberries (you could be on Henman Hill eating these with some local double cream!)

Finally, we have an original wicker picnic hamper available to hire for anyone with tickets to one of the events during 'silly season'. Complete with crockery, cutlery & glasses we can also fill it full of goodies for you.

We just wanted to let you knw that we are now selling a select choice of seasonal cut flowers.

Although there are already a number of shops and market stalls in the town selling flowers, we believe that we are offering the best quality of the choicest flowers in each season. They will be simply, yet chicly presented in brown paper, tied with rafia in the typical 'Sabins style'!!

We currently have lillies and peonies in stock and will be receiveing a fresh delivery Friday morning.

In aid of a worthwhile local charity, this will be an elegant summer's evening in one of the best kept country houses in the area.

Frozen Meals
Just to let you all know that we are now selling our own range of frozen meals to take-away. They have all been created by us in the shop with fresh ingredients so for those that have experienced our catering you will know how yummy they are. They are prepared in single portion foil containers and can be cooked straight from frozen in the oven. Most are £3.50/portion.

Potted Shrimps
A traditional English classic. We havent had these for some time but have found a new supplier and have already sold plenty. Just fabulous spread on hot buttered toast - get them before they go!!

We know its rather kitcsh and 80's to eat a fondue anywhere outside of the Alps but we still reckon their fun for a last minute alternative to the 'kitchen supper'!!!

We've tried to make it as hassle free as possible and put together everything you need to make a speedy cheese fondue (so even the boys can throw it together easily!). All you have to do is melt the cheese!!

The kit is made up of; a fondue set, recipe card, cooking instructions and all the ingredients. It costs just £16 for 4 people (up to a max of 10).

Reserve it now as we are sure its going to be a run-away success - especially during these cold winter months.

All orders for Hames, Pies and Salmon need to be placed this week.

Further to our email of the 8th October, I can finally reveal our "exciting announcement" is the confirmation of Sabins very first Christmas Food Fayre.

Date: Friday 27th November
Time: 6pm to 9pm
Venue: The Digby church hall, Digby Road, Sherborne

We are proud to also announce that we are further developinig our working relationship with 'Vineyards' in Sherborne and running this as a joint venture between two of the leading independent businesses in the town. Resultantly, we have not just invited a selection of the best local food producers in the West Country but there will also be a select number of Hannah's favourite Wine merchants on show.

Due to the size of the venue and the nature of the event, it is TICKET ONLY which are LIMITED and go on SALE FROM TODAY. They are available at both shops (Sabins and Vineyards) at a cost of £5. This charge is to predominantly cover the costs of the venue and the Jazz band, with a proportion of any remaining proceeds being donated to 'Fairmead Community Special School' in Yeovil (Fairmead caters for children between 4yrs - 16yrs with moderate learning difficulties www.fairmeadschool.ik.org).

All of the suppliers/producers on show will be offering samples and tasters so you will be able to try everything and either buy on the night or place orders for Christmas delivery. This is going to be an extravaganza of food and wine.

As you can imagine, we are very excited and anticipate a complete sell out. (Dont forget, tickets are limited!!)

From September, Sabins will be bringing their famous 'gourmet sandwiches' to the offices and shops of Sherborne. In a bid to help make buying lunch easier for all who work in Sherborne we will be walking the streets with our rolls and other goods bringing them to you the customer in your workplace so you don't have to pound the streets trying to find the best quality lunch to suit your budget. We look forward to seeing you in the coming weeks.

We are delighted to announce that the AMOC have asked us to provide the hampers and catering for their Autumn meet which is being held in Somerset.

This is a real 'feather in the cap' considering the prestige of the AM brand and reinforces the fact that Sabins is recognised for supplying fine food and elegant presentation.

For those that weren't aware, Barclays Bank and 'The Sun' newspaper are running a campaign to find the BEST LOCAL BUSINESSES IN BRITAIN (www.thesun.co.uk/bbb) and we - lil'ol Sabins - have apparently been entered.

Firstly, thank you if you have nominated us. More importantly though, you all now need to go and vote to make sure we stand any chance of making it to the final.

Based in the heart of Dorset, we don't get to be involved in many things like this so we are really excited and really touched that out customers think we are worthy of selection!!

Summer has only officially arrived when gazpacho is on the menu and Dorset Blue Vinny's is the freshest we've ever eaten. As long as they are making it, Sabins Deli is selling it!!!.

Vineyards are once again hosting their winefair at the Castle and we are delighted to be involved after last year's huge success.

We are providing canapes to the largest sponsor and their guests, as well as serving our food inside the main tent. We will be sending a specific mailshot to those on our exclusive mailing list nearer the time.
